This is musclewood also known as blue beech, ironwood, or hornbeam. This unique muscle shaped log is from my North Central Wisconsin land. It is approximately 2 inches in diameter and about 12 inches long. A piece like this is excellent for your craft, woodworking, or taxidermy project, as well as for use in an aquarium, vivarium, terrarium, or paludarium.
